Blueberry pancakes
January 28 is National Blueberry Pancake Day! In honor of the occasion, I present this beautiful specimen. Something about this particular pancake caught my eye. It was the hot blueberry juice that had burst from the berry up front. See it? Now all I need is some soft butter and warm maple syrup. Where’s my fork?

Whipped Cream
January 5 is National Whipped Cream Day! Who needs a better reason to celebrate this fluffy, creamy, subtly sweet treat? I’m not a topping snob. I have no problem with topping in a tub or cream from a can. But you can’t beat the fluffy stuff for making dessert look special! Here’s a pretty photo of whipped cream on flan.

Great Grandma’s Sugar Cookies
Great Grandma Mary isn’t around anymore, but I have her famous Christmas cookie recipe, and a few of her special cookie cutters. She used to spend hours making dozens and dozens of these cut out cookies, because everybody loved them so much. She would pack the cookies in tins and give them as gifts, which were coveted, hoarded, and enjoyed.
Nobody can quite duplicate the thin crispness of Grandma’s famous cookies, but I tried again today, because it’s just not Christmas without these sweet treats. Cheers!
