Mom! Throw down some money!

by sugargeek on July 27, 2008

The ice cream man is coming!! I can’t see or hear an ice cream truck without hearing comedian Eddie Murphy’s classic “ice cream” monologue in my head.  As I’ve mentioned, we’re in the hot and humid days of summer here in the midwestern United States.  That means that the ice cream trucks are trolling the neighborhoods every afternoon, trying to lure the kids out to spend their allowances on cold treats.  Well, here’s a virtual ice cream truck for you.  Which treat would you choose?  I’ll take one of each, thanks! Cheesecake on a stick

by sugargeek on July 17, 2008

It’s hot and humid here, and State Fair is just about a month away.  That means it’s time for food on a stick!  I’ve never tried cheesecake on a stick, but next time I see it, I’m getting one!  A slice of cheesecake is frozen, impaled upon a stick, and dipped in chocolate.  The only thing that might make this even more State Fair-ish would be to dip it in batter and deep fry it, and then serve it with chocolate sauce on the side, so you can dip it again.  Okay, now things are getting out of hand.  Just enjoy the photo!  :-)

Whoopie Pie

by sugargeek on July 10, 2008

I had never heard of Whoopie Pie until it came up in a Twitter conversation, with a friend from Pennsylvania. Now, I really want to try one of these traditional Pennsylvania Dutch treats! Made by sandwiching a thick, sweet filling between two round chocolate cakes, I think these could be seriously addictive. It’s probably a good thing they aren’t sold at my local grocery store, or I’d be serving them for dinner. Look at that thing! It’s like a Double-Stuf Oreo with 50 times the Stuf!
