The Ultimate Sugar Geek Sculpture

by sugargeek on March 10, 2008

If you’ve been around the neighborhood of geeky and Lord of the Rings sites, you’ve probably seen this already. However, in case you haven’t, I had to share this here. It’s a candy representation of the Battle of Pelennor Fields from the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, by J.R.R. Tolkien.

I love the little details, like the black licorice Fell Beast, the eerie greenish Dead army, and the stone and tile work on the seven levels of the city walls. You can see all the photos, plus the entertaining explanation by the artists here. It’s really amazing!

Here, at the Grove Park Inn, we have the annual Gingerbread House contest which is huge and amazing! The details are incredible and so is the LOTR sculpture…wow!

@Ash, do you have photos? I’d love to see them!

@Ambush, I think they use cardboard as a base material, but all of the adornments are icing and candies. If you go to the site, you can see close ups and explanations of how they made it. I’d like to eat Grond the battering ram!
